Ceremonial Castings - Barbaric is the beast
Barbaric is the Beast is one beast of an album, not pun intended.
Not many bands can play the symphonic black metal style effectively, in fact most bands simply sound like pop bands attempting "evil" music. But Ceremonial Castings has always managed to create epic atmospheres without resorting to cheesy effects that most modern black metal bands use (and abuse).
It's not an understatement to say that Barbaric is the Beast is one of the most well constructed and polarizing albums you will ever come across in the atmospheric black metal scene.
If the songs on Barbaric is the Beast are not exactly "raw" like those of bands such as Phantom or Von, they are nevertheless incredibly explosive and grim.
Often overlooked in favor of other albums from the discography of Ceremonial Castings, Barbaric is the Beast is still one of the most epic and majestic black metal albums ever made.
